Allegra Kuhn - Art in the Stacks
Allegra Kuhn lives in Stockton Springs. She studied at the University of Massachusetts, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in sculpting. She later attended Goddard College, where she earned a Master of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Art. Allegra has exhibited her work at many galleries in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
Artist statement about her work on display at SSCL:
"Stockton Springs is my home. I am an Artist obsessed with color, design, and materials. The two fabric pieces are new, showcasing a form of Japanese quilting. This art form came about in the eighties.
The painting is an older piece of mine that utilizes paint and paper. I work intuitively rather than planning out my visions. Being creative is a necessity in a world that demands us to be linear humans; this is my way of releasing mental energy and allowing myself to operate without restriction."
